Will AI Make My Skills Irrelevant?

It is a question many of us may consider while we are pursuing our career. The answer? It depends on how you respond to change.

AI is getting faster and smarter, and it is already performing more difficult tasks - coding, answering customer inquiries, and producing art more easily. So yes, if the work you perform is menial, repetitive, or easily automated, your skills may become obsolete. But you don't have to see it that way.

AI continues to struggle with "creative" talent, with thinking strategically, with emotional intelligence, or with leading others. Machines cannot provide a human perspective, creativity, flexibility, or judgment - these are the skills you should develop.

So instead of running from AI, learn how to use it. Use the tools. Test what is easy for technology to do - and what is not. Then work on making sure you are the person who works smarter, not the person who is replaced.

Also, don’t get too comfortable with one skill or one profession. The job market is changing rapidly. The best you can do is remain curious, learn quickly, and stay flexible. Read broadly. So try out different tools, follow through on a real project. Build both knowledge and expertise across multiple areas to develop a diverse skillset.

In the end, relevance is not something you possess; it is something you actively maintain.. AI doesn't make your skill irrelevant unless you accept stagnation.

So no, AI does not mean your career is over. It just means you cannot stop learning after graduating from school. And if you are someone who is a forward thinker, accepts new challenges, and enjoys problem-solving, then you will not only embrace the change, you will thrive in it.
